1. Census in 1870 in Cynthiana, Harrison, KY. 3 The 1870 census recorded Jacob Wolford, liquor dealer, 27, living with wife Josephine, 24; and daughter Mary D., 1. The parents were born in Pennsylvania and Mary in Kentucky.
Also in their home is Josephine's sister, Martha (Cook) Norris, 27, born in Pennsylvania, with her husband Thos. Norris, painter, 32, and their son Frank, 6, both born in Kentucky.
Two others: domestic servant, John Berry, 8, born in Kentucky.

2. Obituary: The Courier-Journal on 18 Feb 1949 in Louisville, Jefferson, KY. 4 Mattie Norris, Tax-Body Aide, Dies
Frankfort, Ky., Feb. 17 -- Miss Mattie Norris, secretary of the Kentucky Tax Commission, died today after a long illness.
She had been the personal secretary of every State revenue commissioner since 1936.
A native of Garrard County, Miss Norris began working for the State in 1912, the year her last boss, Revenue Commissioner Clyde Reeves, was born. She started in the attorney general's office and switched to the Tax Commission in 1917.
"She was one of the fine and faithful people who the State and was underpaid for years," Reeves said. Funeral Tomorrow.
Miss Norris served as secretary to Prof. James W. Martin, Lexington, Kentucky's first revenue commissioner. She continued in that post for those who followed Martin -- Reeves; Ward Oats, and James E. Luckett, both of Frankfort; Dr. W. J. Moore, Richmond; Orville Howard, Harlan, and Azro Hadley, Columbia. Reeves returned to the commissionership again in January, 1948. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.


Martha married Frank Wolford Norris, son of Thomas Norris Jr. and Martha Matilda "Mattie" Cook. (Frank Wolford Norris was born on 14 Mar 1864 in Lexington, Fayette, KY,2 5 died on 26 Mar 1929 in , Harrison, KY 2 5 and was buried on 28 Mar 1929 in Cynthiana: Battle Grove Cemetery, Harrison, KY 2 5.)
