Well Known Printer and Former Publisher of The Cynthiana Times.
MEDICAL AID TOO LATE
Frank Norris died suddenly at his home on Main street shortly after nine o'clock Tuesday night. He had complained in the afternoon of not feeling well, and later in the evening his condition became alarming. His wife went across to Court street to summon Dr. McDowell, leaving her husband sitting in a chair. When they returned a few minutes later, Mr. Norris was found in a dying condition on the floor. He was lifted to the bed and died while Dr. McDowell was trying to relieve him.
Mr. Norris was a son of the late Thomas Norris, of Lexington, and Mattie Cook Norris of Cynthiana, both of whom have been dead a number of years. He was born March 14, 1864. On Sept. 2, 1886 he married Miss Mattie Cook Swonger, of this city,
who survives without children. For a number of years she has been a milliner here, as was Mr. Norris' mother. When scarcely emerged from boyhood, Mr. Norris learned the printer's trade and opened a job printing shop in Cynthiana. In 1883 he began the publication of The Cynthiana Times, a locall newspaper that met with considerable success. Later it was sold to Carl Musser, then in the 1900's to the present publisher of The Cynthiana Democrat with which paper it was merged. After retiring from the printing business here, Mr. Norris worked at different times in shops in other towns, as well as at Cynthiana. In the last few months he had acquired a small outfit and was printing cards and other small work here.
He was a member of the Episcopal church where funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. Thomas L. Settle, of Lexington, will be in charge. Burial in Battle Grove cemetery. The pall bearers: John Wilson, Fennell, Dr. Marshall McDowell, Henry W. Oxley, William Addams, Houston Renaker, Duncan Douglas.
