Nicholas Bucher, was a native of Switzerland, and settled in Northampton county when a boy. He married Elizabeth Bachman, and in 1837 removed to Northumberland county, where he engaged in farming. He was a member of the Reformed church. He was the father of six children, five of whom are living: Samuel; John, of Milton; Sarah; J. F., and Catharine, wife of David Kohler.

6. Obituary: Miltonian on 3 Apr 1903 in Sunbury, Northumberland, PA. 7 Samuel Bucher, brother of Ex-County Treasurer, J. Frank Bucher, died at the home of his son near Pottsgrove, Friday night at nine o'clock, aged 78 years. His death was caused by a paralytic stroke which he had some time ago. The funeral took place Monday at 10:30 a. m. Interment was made at Milton.


Samuel married Henrietta Rebecca Acor, daughter of Daniel Acor and Leah Whitman. (Henrietta Rebecca Acor was born on 2 Sep 1835 in , Montour, Pennsylvania, United States,2 8 died on 22 May 1906 in Watsontown, Northumberland, PA 8 and was buried in Milton: Harmony Cemetery, Northumberland, PA 8.)
