Census in 1860 in Mifflin Twp., Franklin, OH. 10 Peter Bigher [as recorded by census taker], farm laborer, 35, was living with wife Elizabeth, 30; Albert, 5; Sarah, 3; Sylvester, 1; Peter's brother John, farm laborer, 16; and Peter's sister Mary, 18, domestic. Peter was caring for them because their father had died in 1851.
Peter and his brother and sister were born in Pennsylvania, everyone else in Ohio. He had no real estate and his personal estates was worth $400, so as a farm laborer he was likely work on Christian's land mentioned below.
Next door is Peter's brother-in-law who married his sister Eliza: Chas Hyle [as recorded by census taker, should be Heyl], farmer, 37, living with Eliza, 30; Esther, 15; John F., 12; Georgeanna, 8; Lavina, 3; and Eliza, 6 months old on 20 Jul 1860 when the census was recorded. Everyone was born in Ohio except mother Eliza in Pennsylvania.
Next door is Chas' father Christian Hyle, retired farmer, 72, with wife Esther, 69, and a domestic servant Elizabeth Pilgrim, 53. Christian was born in Bavaria, Germany, Esther in Pennsylvania, and Ms. Pilgrim in Ohio. WOLF received a telegram from Chili, this morning, announcing the death of his wife's sister-in-law, Mrs. Geo. AWALT. Mrs. Awalt was also a sister to John BEECHER and Mr. & Mrs. BEECHER drove there this morning. Funeral will be Sunday. Saturday, July 20, 1901: Chas. CAFFYN and Mrs. C. C. WOLF went to Chili this morning to attend Mrs. Geo. AWALT's funeral tomorrow. Mr. Wolf will go this evening.

Obituary: Rochester Sentinel on 4 Aug 1914 in Rochester, Fulton, IN, USA. 5 6 John BEECHER, for 38 years a resident of this city, and a member of the local post G.A.R., passed away this morning (Tuesday) at his home on Madison street after a long illness. He was past 71 years of age. Death was caused by heart trouble and dropsy. Mr. Beecher was born in Franklin county, Ohio, February 3, 1843.

At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in Co. K, 134th Indiana Infantry and was mustered out three years later as corporal in Co. C, 151st Indiana. After the war he moved to Indiana and on August 9th, 1869, he was married to Martha E. BALTIMORE who survives him. They have no children.

Mr. Beecher leaves one brother and one sister who live in Kansas. Mr. Beecher was a blacksmith by trade and after moving to Rochester worked for some time for Samuel HEFFLEY. Later he started a shop of his own and remained active until two years ago.

A. S. WARRINER of the M.E. church in charge. Interment at Chili cemetery, four miles east of Denver.
