1. Census in 1880 in Franklin Twp., Adams, PA. 1 Daniel D. Bucher, farmer, 31, was living with wife Harriet E., 30; son John W., 3; Harry C., 2; and a servant, Ida Toot, 14. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

2. Newspaper: Bendersville Man Dead in Auto Crash, 25 Oct 1929, East Berlin, Adams, PA. 3 John W. Bucher, 53, prominent Bendersville butcher, was fatally injured in an automobile crash on the Harrisburg road, one mile east of Carlisle, Wednesday afternoon. Bucher died in the Carlisle hospital in the evening. The victim suffered a punctured lung and several fractured ribs. Bucher and his son, Thurston, 17, were returning to Bendersville from Harrisburg in a light sedan, driven by the latter. Thurston suffered numerous bruises and minor lacerations. He received treatment at the Carlisle hospital but was not admitted as a patient.

According to reports from Bendersville, the steering apparatus of the machine broke and the car ran off the road, crashed into an obstruction and upset. Mr. Bucher was thrown out of the car.

Mr. Bucher was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bucher, of Arendtsville. For 23 years he conducted a meat market in Bendersville, and was well known throughout the upper end of the county.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie (Keller) Bucher, and the following sons and daughters: George A. Bucher, Hampton; Guy I. Bucher, White Hill; Clair J. Bucher, White Hill; Keller E. Bucher, Essex, Maryland; Daniel M. Bucher, Maybelle A. Bucher, Thursten W. Bucher, John W. Bucher Sr., and Mary Jane Bucher, all at home.

Two brothers, Harry C. Bucher, a butcher in Biglerville, and Isaac C. Bucher, Chambersburg, and one sister, Mrs. Emory Wentz, McKnightstown, also survive. The funeral was held on Saturday.


John married Anna E. Keller on 20 Nov 1898 in North Annville Twp.: Hill Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA. (Anna E. Keller was born in 1878 in , , PA and died in 1955.)
