Next door is Harriet's father, Jonas Eisenhart, 56, with wife Mary, 53; Gabriel, 17; Emanuel, 15; Jonathan, 12; Lewis, 10; and Amelia, 19. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Jonas real estate was valued at $3,500 and William's $0 indicating he is living on Jonas land. The post office is Green Briar. 2. Census in 1870 in Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 8 The 1870 census recorded Wm. S. Snyder, laborer, 35, living with wife Harriet, 33; Lewis, 14; Henry C., 13; Kate S., 12; William, 10; Frank, 8; Mary 4, and Charles E., 3 months. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office was Mahanoy City. 3. Census in 1880 in West Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 9 The 1880 census recorded Lewis Snider, engineer, 24, living with wife Alice, 21; son John, 4; and son Willie, 1. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. 4. Book: History of Schuylkill County, Pa.: Lewis Snyder, engineer, West Mahanoy, was born July 27th, 1856 and was married to Alice Reeser, February 3d, 1876. He was severly injured by a fall at a colliery., 1881. 1 5. Newspaper: Carlisle Evening Herald: A Brakeman Run Over., 24 Mar 1891, Carlisle, Cumberland, PA. 10 Mahanoy Plane, Pa., March 24. -- Lewis Snyder, a married man with four small children, met with an accident which caused his death. He was employed as a brakeman on a coal train at this place, and while attempting to step on the tank of a moving engine his foot slipped, causing him to fall on the track, where the wheels passed over him, crushing his two legs very badly. 6. Newspaper: Miners Journal: Both Legs Cut Off, 24 Mar 1891, Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 11 Lewis Snyder aged about thirty-five years, slipped while attempting to board a moving freight train at Mahanoy Plane, and had both legs run over. The right leg was severed below the knee and the left was so badly curshed that it had to be amputated at the thigh. Snyder was employed by the Reading Railroad Company at Mahanoy Plane.
