A memorial service for David O. Livingston, 57, will be conducted at noon Friday, at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1252 S. Wolcott, Chicago, which is within the Illinois Medical District. The Rev. Napoleon Wordlaw will officiate.
Mr. Livingston died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his home within the Medical District after a three-year fight with prostate cancer, David O. Livingston's love of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit lead to the rededication of the 56-acre Chicago Technology Park as the "David O. Livingston Chicago Technology Park". The park is located within the Illinois Medical District, the world's largest urban medical district which he has headed since 1992.
Born in Berwyn, Mr. Livingston earned his degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he was active in student government, including the Union Board, Student Senate and Inter-Fraternity Council. He was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, as well as Phi Sigma, Tomahawk Scabbard and the Blade and Ma-Wan-Da honorary fraternities. Mr. Livingston received his ROTC Commission with designation in the Army and served in the Air Defense Artillery Commands in Korea and the United States.
In addition to his former wife, Sue Anne Beicher, survivors include his father, Park (Vera); a daughter, Kelly; two sons, Tyler (Reeky) and Ryan; two brothers, Barry (Cathy) and Tom (Connie); three sisters, Linda (John( Wintermute, Katie (Brett) Brock and Susan (Ross) Robertson; and two grandchildren, Abby and Sarah. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice, Rush Cancer Institute or Holy Family Medical Center.

Livingston, 57, executive director of the Illinois Medical District, died Tuesday in his Near West Side home from prostate cancer. Mr. Livingston had served as executive director since 1992. He oversaw about 40,000 employees and a $1.5 billion annual budget. The Chicago Technology Park recently had been rededicated in his honor as the David O. Livingston Technology Park. The park promotes the development and growth of biotechnology companies. Prior to his post at the Medical District, Mr. Livingston founded a consulting firm to provide financial planning services to small businesses and co-founded a second firm specializing in marketing communication services. Earlier, he had been a senior vice president of marketing and sales for Bankers Life & Casualty. A Berwyn native, he graduated from the University of Illinois and later served in the U.S. Army and in the Air Defense Artillery Commands in Korea and the U.S. Survivors include his former wife, Sue Anne Beicher; a daughter, Kelly; two sons, Tyler and Ryan; his father, Park; two brothers, Barry and Tom; three sisters, Linda Wintermute, Katie Brock and Susan Robertson; and two grandchildren. Services were held Friday.


David married Sue Ann Beicher, daughter of John Irvin Beicher and Lois Marie Wise. (Sue Ann Beicher was born on 31 Oct 1945 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH 8 9 10.)
