Both ladies were married, May's column saying she married at age 18, and they and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. Minerva's other three lodgers were all single men: Martin Curley, 40; Edward Schuler, 59; and Charles Hondphil, 37. 6. Obituary: Evelyn May Woomer was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, on 23 Oct 1901, the daughter of Isaiah Simpson Woomer (1873-1905) and Angeline Caroline Beacher (1874-1930). In 1903 the family moved to Pittsburgh. When she was 3 years old her father was asphyxiated in a tunnel at the blast furnance where he worked. She and her brother Frank were in the Protestant Orphanage of Pittsburgh in the 1910 census while her mother was living without children with her 2nd husband Frederick Raymond Gray (1886-1918) who died of pneumonia. In 1920 the widow Angeline Gray was living with 4 children: May Woomer, 16, Benajmin Franklin "Frank" Woomer, 18, Florence Gray, 5, and Dorothy Gray, 4. (Her other children were daughter Adeline Woomer (1897-1957) living in 1920 with her husband Gomer Evans, and daughter Lillian Woomer (1905-1988) who spent her life at the State institution for Feeble-Minded in Polk, PA.) On 5 Nov 1921 Evelyn May married Theodore R. McFarland (1900-1939) who died of tuberculosis in January. On 8 Jul 1939 Evelyn May married Quincy Floyd McCunn (1890-1961). She died on 8 Nov 1987 in Pittsburgh and was buried in Allegheny Cemetery. Evelyn May appears to have no children per her 1930-1950 census records. Evelyn married Theodore R. McFarland, son of John Henry McFarland and Martha Delphine Hight, on 5 Nov 1921 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA.1 The marriage ended in divorce. (Theodore R. McFarland was born on 8 Jul 1900 in Mapletown, Greene, PA, United States,15 died on 4 Jan 1939 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA 12 and was buried on 6 Jan 1939.) Evelyn next married Quincy Floyd McCunn, son of Mark Calvin McCunn and Elizabeth Cordelia Deyarim, on 8 Jul 1939 in Trumbull, Ohio, United States.2 (Quincy Floyd McCunn was born on 18 May 1890 in Indiana, Indiana, PA,13 died on 10 Nov 1961 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA 13 16 and was buried on 13 Nov 1961 in Pittsburgh: Allegheny Cemetery, Allegheny, PA 13 16.) |
