John and Rebecca were born in born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. John's real estate was valued at $1500 and his personal estate $400. The post office was Kansasville.

Mrs. Gus Bucher, who called to Citronelle on account of the sickness of her mother Mrs. John Sumpter, writes that she is still very sick.

Mrs. Mary Ann Beecher, 88, Passes Away at Her Home.
UNION GROVE, Wis. - Mrs. Mary Ann Beecher aged 87
passed away at her home at noon Wednesday Oct 15, following an illness of some weeks. She was the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Cheeseman) Sumpter born in Lincolnshire, England and came with the family to America in 1854 and located in the town of Yorkville. She was married to Gustaves Beecher and their married life was passed in farming and in and around this vicinity. After Mr. Beecher's death about nine years ago Mrs. Beecher came to the village to reside.
Of their family of children there survive four daughters and four sons. They are: Mrs. Ed Stevens, Iowa; Mrs. Belle Fischer, Lake Geneva; Mrs. Rose Blackburn, Racine; Mrs. Beryl Kutz, George and Roy Beecher, Union Grove; Ray of Franksville, and Ross of Lyons. A number of grandchildren and two brothers Alfred and Alex Sumpter of Union and sister Mrs. Franny Murgatroy of Wisconsin Rapids also survive. Funeral will be held at the Rodes Funeral Home in Union Grove on Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the Union Grove cemetery.
