Newspaper: Cecil Whig: obituary of Jacob Rambo, 5 Nov 1910, Elkton, Cecil, MD. 1 Jacob Rambo, one of Elkton's oldest residents, died on Monday, at the home of his son, Andrew, with whom he of late resided, of a complication of diseases, aged 84 years. He came to Elkton from Pennsylvania in early manhood and being a skilled carpenter later became a prominent builder, and erected many residences and other structures in the town and neighborhood. Failing eyesight, about ten years ago, compelled his retirement. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of the late John A. Johnson, and sister of Mrs. C. V. Howard. Six of her children, two of whom Arthur M. and Andrew, reside in Elkton, survive him. His second wife was Mrs. Mary Hinson Yates, who survives him with three children. His funeral was held on Thursday, with services in Elkton M. E. Church, which he erected fifty years ago, and interment in Elkton Cemetery. Jacob married Elizabeth Johnson on 27 Jan 1853 in , Cecil, MD. (Elizabeth Johnson was born in 1833 in Elkton, Cecil, MD,3 died on 5 May 1880 in Elkton, Cecil, MD 3 4 and was buried on 8 May 1880 in Elkton, Cecil, MD 3 4.) Jacob next married Mary L. Hinson after 1886. (Mary L. Hinson was born on 22 Feb 1859 in , , DE,5 died on 10 Aug 1919 in Wilmington, New Castle, DE 5 6 and was buried on 14 Aug 1919 in Elkton, Cecil, MD 5 6.) |
