1. Census in 1850 in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe, IN. 7 The 1850 census recorded three young Beeker children lviing apart from their parents, Leonard and Anna Beeker. Norcemus Beeker, 8, Manford Beeker, 7, and Olena Beeker, 2, are living in the household of John Pulvar, 25, and his wife Sarah J., 27, both born in New Jersey, and their son David J. Pulvar, 1, born in Indiana, as were the Beeker children.

Note to researchers: John Pulver is household 468. Leonard Beeker is household 483, so there is some distance between them.
Due to poor handwriting, on FamilySearch.org, the Beeker children are indexed as surname Becken; on Ancestry.com they are indexed as surname Beckers.

2. Census in 1860 in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe, IN. 8 The 1860 census recorded the households of two Beeker brothers living as neighbors.

Leonard Beeker, farmer, 46, was living with daughter Dulcina, 19; son Norcemus, 18; son Manford, 16; and daughter Orlena, 12. Leonard's real estate was valued at $3450 and personal estate $724. Everyone was born in Indiania.

Daniel Beeker, 42, was with wife Mary F., 32; children Mary E., 13; Samuel A., 11; Susannah A., 9; Charles W., 6; Flora V., 3; and Daniel's mother, Christina Beeker, widow, 69, born in North Carolina; and a farm hand, Erin Julian, 21, born in Ohio. Everyone else was born in Indiana except Mary F. in Kentucky. Daniel's farm was vlaued at $10060 and personal estate $3041. The post office was Battle Ground.

3. Census in 1870 in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe, IN. 9 The 1870 census recorded Joseph C. Starret, farmer, 29, living with wife Orlena, 22; son Clinton S., 4; daughter Doshi, 2; and daughter Corry, 1. Everyone was born in Indiana. The post office was Chauncey [note: later became part of West Lafayette].

4. Census in 1880 in Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe, IN. 10 The 1880 census recorded Joseph Sterrett, farmer, 40, living with wife Orlena, 32; son Clinton E., 13; daughter Docia M. 12; daughter Cora A., 11; son Simmon J., 7; daughter Osa A., 5; son Oda L., 5; son Carlie, 2; and daughter Macy, 7 months. Everyone and their parents were born in Indiana.

DELPHI, Oct 26. (Special) -- Mrs. Orlena Sterrett, 87, died at 6:30 o'clock this morning at the family home, four miles northeast of Battle Ground. She was a member of the M. E. church. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Clinton, at home, Carl, of near Lafayette, Summers and Mrs. Macie Collier, Battle Ground, Mrs. Docia Gay, Delphi, and Mrs. Cora Garrott, Brookston. The funeral will be held at the home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, interment in Pretty Prairie cemetery.


Orlena married Joseph C. Sterrett, son of Alexander Sterrett and Tharissa "Tersey" McClain, on 15 Apr 1866 in , Tippecanoe, IN.1 (Joseph C. Sterrett was born on 20 Mar 1841 in LaPorte, LaPorte, IN,5 11 died on 15 Oct 1923 in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe, IN 11 and was buried on 17 Oct 1923 in Battle Ground: Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Tippecanoe, IN 11.)
