Born in Monroe Township to the late Jacob Marshall and Ruth Edna Beecher Kough, he was a farmer in North Newton for 22 years and was employed by E.E. Kough Sons, Newville. A graduate of Carlisle High School, he was a Korean War veteran and a former member of the National Guard in Carlisle. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Chruch and its adult Sunday school class and a trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hostetter Kough; a son, John M. Kough, at home; two daughters, Karen Kough of Carlisle and Linda Webber of RD5 Newville; four sisters, Addessa Lay of Newville, Lyrian Kough and Pearl Snyder, both of Carlisle, and Shirley Anderson of Plainfield; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Alex Quigley officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in North Middleton Township.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to West Hill United Methodist Church, c/o John P. Day, RD9 Box 382, Carlisle.
