In reading over the columns of your paper we find news from nearly all parts of the county, but, seldom do we find anything from our town, namely, East Salem. We deem it necessary to write a short letter, and give you some of the news of our town and vicinity.

Sleighing is over for the present.

John Beecher is our boss blacksmith.

D.B. Dumm has his ice-house filled with the best of ice.

The tie hauling has almost stopped owing to the bad roads.

Prayer meeting every Saturday evning the U. B. church.

Our school is progressing nicely under the instruction of M. E. Kinzer.

The taffy party that was held at Spichers a few nights ago was a success.

Do you want your photos taken? If so stop on the hill. Ira is the artist.

We should have a butcher here. Who will volunteer? Shaffer step in, now is the time.

We had a lecture a few evenings ago on the "Origin of the Black Race," delivered by W. H. Griffith (co'ored).

Our merchants, Winey and Schlegel, are kept busy. The streets on Saturdays puts one in mind of Market street, Philadelphia.
