19. Obituary: Kokomo Tribune: Retired Banker Dies on 11 Oct 1961 in Kokomo, Howard, IN. 25 Charles W. Beecher, 88, a prominent resident and bank official for a number of years, died during his sleep at the Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, Ind. Monday night.
The time of his death was set at 11 p.m. He was found Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Beecher had lived at 356 E. Fifth St., until 1956 when they moved to the Warren Home.
Mr. Beecher was associated with the Peru Trust Co. for 56 years, retiring on his anniversary, March 1, 1956. He had joined as a stenographer and bookkeeper on March 1, 1900.
He was employed in Chicago for several years and also taught school in Jefferson Township for a year.
Mr. Beecher was a trustee of DePauw University for 18 years and was a trustee of the Warren Memorial Home for the Aged for 31 years, prior to his retirement.
He was also active in civic affairs and held important offices in the Peru Methodist Church for many years.
He was also a member of the Peru IOOF Lodge.
Born in Jefferson Township, Dec. 30, 1872, he was the son of William B. and Julia A. Beecher. He was married in Peru, June 20, 1901 to Minnie Pershing, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Miss Grace and Miss Evelyn Beecher, Indianapolis, and Miss Barbara Beecher, a Methodist missionary and now treasurer of Isabel Thoburn College, Lucknow, India.
The body was removed to the Grogg Funeral Home, Warren, and will be returned to the Memorial Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at the Peru Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday. The casket will be opened there and there will be viewing at the church from noon until 2 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Beecher had lived at 356 E. Fifth St. until they moved to the Warren Home in 1956. He was associated with the Peru Trust Company 56 years, retiring on his anniversary, Mary 1, 1956.
He served as trustee of DePauw University for 18 years and as a trustee of the warren Memorial Home for the Aged for 31 years prior to his retirement.
