Woman Drowns In Park Boating Lake

Mrs. Mary Susan Moyer, wife of Ray S. Moyer, of 1133 Linden St., was found dead yesterday in the boating lake at Dorney park, not far from the F. T. Dorney home and bakery where she had been visiting. Mrs. Moyer had gone to the Dorney home during the morning, and soon after her arrival had gone for a walk around the swimming pool and boating lake at the park. Her body was found at 11:50 a. m. by resident of the vicinity. Coroner Alexander M. Peters issued a certificate of death by drowning. A native of Cetronia, she was born Feb. 15, 1891, a daughter of the late Willoughby and Martha, nee Schlicher, Knerr. She lived most of her life in Allentown, where her husband is chief rate setter for the Mack Manufacturing Co. An active member of Trinity Reformed church, she had been a member of the choir there since 1908, and held membership in the Merry Workers class. She was also a member of the Cedar Crest auxiliary, the Mothers of Phi Eta sorority, Phi Kappa Tau, and the Women's Guild of Trinity church.
Surviving are three sons, Lloyd, a teacher in the Somerville, N. J. high school; Ralph and Gerald, or this city, and a daughter, Mrs. Jean Coulter at home, as well as seven grandchildren. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Harvey Kocher and John Knerr, Allentown; Mrs. Oliver Kocher, Fogelsville; Mrs Harry Johnson, Allentown, and Mrs. Harvey Wilt, Cetronia. She was preceded in death by three children. Rev. Clarence H. Moats, pastor of Trinity church, will officiate at services to be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Stephens funeral home, 1335 Linden St. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.


Mary married Raymond Samuel Moyer, son of Alvin Moyer and Sarah B. Fisher. (Raymond Samuel Moyer was born on 24 Oct 1886 in , , PA,8 9 died on 5 Feb 1952 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA 8 9 and was buried in Allentown: Greenwood Cemetery, Lehigh, PA 8.)
