John Peter Herr's son Samuel is documented in the book "Centennial History of Lancaster, Ohio" as having come there in 1815 from Hagerstown, Maryland, so it appears in 1830 his father either came to visit or lived there for a while before returning near Hagerstown to Greencastle, PA where John Peter died near his son Conrad, who in 1830 was living in Greencastle. Inspecting Greencastle in 1830 page by page, John Peter Herr was not recorded there.

3. John P. Herr and Susan Herr are listed as members of the German Reformed church in 1834, likely the year they arrived. In 1834 in Greencastle, Franklin, PA. 6 German Reformed Church Membership roster from 1818 to 1864. (It appears it shows the year member joined, as members only listed once.)
