Census in 1900 in Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 14 George Swarhun [indexed in Heritage Quest census as George Swarkien] is listed as coal miner, 43, born May 1857, married for 33 years to wife Dora, slate picker (coal), 33, Mar 1867. She had birthed 5 children, 4 still alive in 1900. Living with them: John, slate picker (coal), 12, Feb 1888; Annie, 6, Jun 1893; Susan, 3, Jul 1896; and ?eorge, daughter, 1, Feb 1898. Also with them is nephew John Lazer, day laborer, 19, Feb 1880. Everyone and their parents were born in Austria, except John and Annie were born in Pennsylvania. This suggests mother Dora was in Austria in 1896 and 1898 when her two youngest children were born. George immigrated in 1885; Dora in 1889.

2. Census in 1910 in Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 15 The 1910 census recorded renting on Fowlers Street: George Schwerka, coal mine laborer, 54, born in Austria,with wife Dora, 40, born in Austria. They were married for 23 years and she had birthed 8 children, 7 alive in 1910. Living with them: John, coal mine laborer, 21; Annie, 14; Susan, 12; George, 10; Joseph, 8; Michael, 6; and Mary, 2. All the children were born in Pennsylvania. George and Dora spoke Slovak, not English which the children could speak. George immigrated in 1885 and was naturalized. Dora immigrated in 1889.

3. Census in 1920 in Mahanoy Twp., Schuylkill, PA. 4 The head of the household is Anna Beacher (age 25). She is a widow living with her daughter Mae (6); son George (4 years 7 months); and Anna (1 year 4 months.) Anna has no occupation.

However, we can assume who her father and mother are. Also in the same rental housing where Anna lives is a household headed by George Sverha (65, coal miner) and Dora (54). Both are listed as being born in Austria, Solvak. George immigrated in 1886. Dora and son John immigrated in 1887. All were naturalized in 1893. Their children living with them are John (34); George (20); Susan (23); Joseph (19): and Michael (17). The census was recorded on January 9, 1920.

5. Census in 1940 in Shenandoah, Schuylkill, PA. 16 In the 1940 Census at 524 E. Centre St. in Shenandoah was living George Beacher (indexed in census as Beacker), miner, in the household headed by Fred Neumeister, carpenter in coal industry, 64, and Fred's wife Anna Neumeister, seamstress in factory, 45, who was George's mother by her first marriage. George was born in Shenandoah, Fred in Lavelle, and Anna in Yatesville.

6. Census in 1950 in Butler Township, Schuylkill, PA. 17 The 1950 census recorded living in an apartment on Ashland-Frackville Highway: Fred C. Neumeister, 73, living with wife Anna C., hemming in dress factory, 56. They were born in Pennsylvania.

8. Newspaper: Pottsville Republican: obituary of Mrs. Fred Neumeister, 15 Apr 1970, Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. 18 Mrs. Anna Beacher Neumeist-er of 114 N. Ferguson S,t., Shenandoah, died last evening in Good Samaritan Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the former Anna Svecha. Mrs. Neumeister was born in Yatesville. Her parents were the late George and Dorothy Svecha. She was a member of Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. . Married twice, she was preceded in death by both husbands, George Beacher and Fred Neumeister. A son, George Beacher, died October 1969. Surviving: two daughters, Mae, wife of George Zitkus, and Anna, wife of Peter Zagorsky, Shenandoah; a brother, Michael Svecha, Yatesville; a sister, Mary, wife of John Yunevage, Shenandoah; nine grandchil dren; and 10 great-grandchil dren. Funeral will be Saturday morning from Oravitz Funeral Home, .Shenandoah. Mass in Annunciation BVM Church, Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

9. Obituary: Evening Herald: obituary of Mrs. Anna Neumeister on 15 Apr 1970 in Shenandoah, Schuylkill, PA. 12 Mrs. Anna Beacher Neumeister, 114 North Ferguson street, Shenandoah, died Tuesday in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville.

The former Anna Sverha, she was a daughter of the late George and Dorothy Sverha. Her husband, Fred, died several years ago.
Born in Yatesville, she resided in Shenandoah most of her life and was a member of the Annunciation Church. A son, George (Buddy) Beacher, died last October.

Surviving are two daughters, Mae, wife of George Zitkus, of Shenandoah; Ann Beacher, wife of Peter Zagorski, Shenandoah; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She also leaves a brother, Michael Sverha, in Yatesville; one sister, Mary, wife of John Yunevage, of Shenandoah.

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Oravitz Funeral Home, with High Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. in Annunciation Church. Interment int he Odd Fellows Cemetery. Viewing Thursday 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday 2 to 10 p.m.
J. A. Oravitz and Sons have charge.

10. Newspaper: Evening Herald, 18 Apr 1970, Shenandoah, Schuylkill, PA. 13 Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Anna Neumeister, The 114 burial North from Ferguson the street, was vitz Home for Funerals. High Requiem Mass celebrated by Rev. John J. Nugent in the Annunciation Church. Father Nugent administered the last rites of absolution in the church and was in charge of committal services at the cemetery. He also led a scriptural reading service at the funeral home last evening. Pallbearers were Joseph Beacher, Albert Zitkus, John Zagorski, George Stremba, Edward Eiche and John Harkins. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. J. A. Oravitz and Sons had charge.
