County of Rush

On this 31st day of March, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty personally appeared before me, Clerk of the Rush Circuit Court, the same being a Court of Records within and for the County and State aforesaid, (1) Eliza Beher aged 74 years, a resident of Rush, in the State of Indiana, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of (2) Samuel Beher deceased, who was the identical (3) Samuel Beher, who served under the same of (4) Samuel Beher as a (5) Private in the company commanded by Captain don't know, in the regiment of don't know, commanded by don't know in the War of 1812; that her said husband (6) Volunteered at State of Va on or about the ___ day of ___, A. D., ___ for the term of ____, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of (7) about a year, and whose services terminated, by reason of (8) honorable discharge, on the ___ day of ___ A. D. ____. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (9) his age 19 years - hatter in early life later farmer born in Rockbridge Co., Va - height 6 feet 1 inch dark hair gray eyes fair complexion. She further states that she was married to the said Samuel Beher at the city (or town) of Cincinnati, in the County of Hamilton, and in the State of Ohio, on the 25th day of Oct A. D. 1835 by one (10) George Brown, who was a (11) minister of the Gospel and that her name before her said marriage was Eliza Ellis, and the she has not remarried since the death of the said soldier; and she further states that (12) she claimant had been previously married to David Ellis of Hamilton County, Ohio and that her said husband (13) Samuel Beher, died at Rush County, in the State of Indiana, on the 2nd day of Oct., A. D. 1863; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: they lived in Cin. Ohio on West 3d street for three years, + moved from there to Rush County Ind. - where he died. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the pension to which she may be entitled under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740 inclusive Revised Statutes, and the Act of March 9, 1878, and hereby constitutes and appoints with full power of substation and revocation William Berrer of Washington D C her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim and she further declares that she has heretofore made no application (15) for pension, that her husband made application for land warrants and obtained two, some time from 1852 to 1854, and that her residence is Rush County.
