Mrs. Berniee Baker Heavilon. widow of Richard M. Heavilon, died Tuesday night at 11:30 o'clock at her home in West Lafayette alter having been an invalid for the past 15 years. Born in Otterbein October 26, 1882, she was a daughter of the late Sumner W. and Alice Beeker Baker, and received her early education at Otterbein. Later she entered Purdue universiy and received a bachelor of science degree from that institution with the class of 1901.
Her marriage to Mr. Heavilon took place April 29, 1903, and they made their home in Frankfort for many years, Mr. Heavilon dying seven years ago. Their two sons, Ernest Baker Heavilon and Richard Kenneth Heavilon, entered Purdue, the former graduating in 1927. He is now living at Wadsworth, O. Mrs. Heavilon and her younger son moved to West Lafayette a year ago last fall and the son is a sophomore in Purdue.
She also leaves a granddaughter, Bernice Ann Heavilon; a sister, Mrs. Edward M. Johnson, of Otterbein, and two brothers: L. K. Baker, of Long Beach, Cal., and Dr. E. S. Baker, of Lafayette. A sister, Mrs. Floyd Garrott, passed away February 25, 1932.
Mrs. Heavilon was a very capable musician and greatly devoted to musical arts until continued illness and invalidism compelled her to discontinue her work in this field. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Frankfort and a charter member of the Merry Matrons' club.
The funeral will be held at the First Presbyterian church, Frankfort, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock; burial in Frankfort.


Bernice married Richard Maurice Heavilon, son of Joseph Taylor Heavilon and Jesse Amanda Carter, on 29 Apr 1903 in Otterbein, Benton, IN.1 2 3 (Richard Maurice Heavilon was born on 28 Dec 1876 in Frankfort, Clinton, IN,6 8 died on 12 May 1926 in Frankfort, Clinton, IN 1 2 6 8 and was buried in Frankfort: Bunnel Cemetery, Clinton, IN 8.)
