Miss Nancy Lee Franklin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Franklin of 9 Gamble Ave., was married today to David M Rambo. The Rev. Gilbert Van Beaver officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony at Elsmere Presbyterian Church and a reception followed at the Elsmere Fire Hall. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Paul P. Rambo of 111 Oak Ave. and the late Mr. Rambo. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a bouffant organza gown of chapel length with Rochelle lace trim on the bodice and skirt. Her English illusion veil was held by a lace and pearl tiered crown, and she carried roses and carnations. Miss Kathleen Boulden of Wilmington was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Robert Quinn, Miss Barbara Squire and Mrs. Michael Shaw, all of Wilmington, and Mrs. Robert Greenleaf of Oxford, Pa. The attendants wore satapeau sheath gowns in yellow and green with Watteau backs and embroidery trim. They had matching horsehair headpieces and carried roses and carnations. Flower girl was Jody Coates of Oxford, cousin of the bride. Raymond Trippe of Elsmere was best man. Ushers were Robert Greenleaf of Oxford, Francis Tutoro and Richard Rambo, brother of the bridegroom and James Little of Endicott, N.Y. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rambo graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School. The wife is employed by Almart and Mr. Rambo is associated with Rambo and Symonds Dry Wall Construction Co. After a wedding trip to Canada, they will live in Elsmere Gardens.

Lewes DE. David was born to Olivia Fox Symonds and Paul Pennett Rambo on July 24, 1942 in Wilmington DE. He passed at age 77.

David Joined the Elsmere Fire Company in 1957 at age fifteen. He graduated from Conrad in 1960. Then acted as the Assistant Chief of the Fire Company for some time in the 60's. He had over 60 years of service to the Fire Company. He went on to join the Army National Guard in 1964 and remained in active duty on weekends until 1970.

He married his beloved wife, Nancy Lee Rambo on July 16th, 1966. They were together for over 52 years they shared a beautiful bond and daily commitment to one another throughout their marriage, now they have been reunited in heaven…

David was kind, lovely, and humble and loved by everyone who knew him. He was the most down to earth person, truly a one of a kind. He was simply a joy to be around. He enjoyed weekends in Maryland with his Family and Friends at Craft Haven. Winters at the mountain house with Family and Friends in Canton Pennsylvania. Boating, Fishing and hunting were hobbies he looked forward to each year.

He was a master drywall man. He owned Rambo's drywall repair business for over 30 years.

David is survived by his brother, Richard Rambo; his children, Paul and Tracey Rambo; daughter in law, Samantha Riggs-Rambo; grandchildren, Travis Rambo, Francheska Rambo, David Rambo, and Samantha Rambo; and his great-grandchildren, Sofia and Mia Olivia Rambo.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a service on January 15th, 2020 at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home Wilmington, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 1980, at 12:00 noon. A viewing will take place at the funeral home from 10:30-12. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Elsmere Fire Hall from 1:15 to 3:15, 1107 Kirkwood Hwy, Elsmere, DE 19805.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's name to Elsmere Fire Company, 1107 Kirkwood Hwy, Elsmere, DE 19805.


David married Nancy Lee Franklin, daughter of Carl James Franklin Sr. and Leona Johnson, on 16 Jul 1966 in Wilmington, New Castle, DE.1 2 (Nancy Lee Franklin was born on 7 Jan 1946 in West Chester, Chester, PA, died on 8 Feb 2019 in Wilmington, New Castle, DE 6 and was buried on 14 Feb 2019 in Wilmington: Silverbrook Cemetery, New Castle, DE 6.)
