Miss Enid Dorothy Gunston, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Gunston of 2319 Twelfth Street, is engaged to Lieutenant Robert White Parks, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Parks of West Lafayette, Ind. The romantic news was announced today by the parents of the bride to be. Miss Gunston is visiting her brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey Martin (Zoe Gunston) in Chicago, and plans to be married there in June.
The betrothed pair met in Fort Sill, Okla., where the Gunston family lived while the bride elect's father was a colonel serving with the field artillery. Lieutenant Parks was sent to Fort Sill for duty following his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1944. He returned a short time ago after more than two years' military service in Europe and at present is visiting his parent in Indiana, He studied a year at Purdue University before enroling in the military academy.
The bride elect attended the Sacramento elementary schools, the San Mateo High School and the University of Nevada.
The couple will visit in Sacramento after their marriage, planning to drive from Chicago by automobile.

7. Obituary: Reno Gazette-Journal: obituary of Robert White Parks on 8 Sep 1993 in Reno, Washoe, NV. 4 Robert White Parks, 72, died Sept. 5, 1993, at his residence. A native of West Lafayette, Ind., he was born June 8, 1921, and had been a Reno resident for eight years, coming from Arizona. Parks was a member of Arizona State assessors office and a retired 30 year U.S. Army O-6 Colonel veteran, and a reserve officer Assn. D.A.V. He was also a West Point Military Academy graduate. Surviving are his widow Enid of Reno; son William White and daughter Dr. Cid Guston-Parks, both of Sacramento; daughter Susan Peterson of Carson City; brother Dr. John of Cleveland, Ohio; and four grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later date. Cremation will be at Reno Crematory, under the direction of Northern Nevada Memorial Cremation and Burial Society. A memorial is being established with Flospice of Northern Nevada, c/o Saint Mary's Foundation, 235 W. Sixth St., Reno 89502.
