"Grandma" Laird Dies at Otterbein At Age of Ninety

Mrs. Christena Laird, pioneer, died at the family residence in Otterbein Monday morning. "Grandma" Laird, as she was usually known, almost realized her ambition to celebrate her 90th birthday. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 at the M. E. church.
Mrs. Laird was born near Battle Ground, August 3, 1833. On Dec. 11, 1855, she was united in marriage to George W. Laird, also of Battle Ground, and to this union eight children were born, five surviving as follows: Leonard of Chicago; Clara, of Otterbein; Mrs. Clara Holliday, Marion, Ind; Elmer of Otterbein and Frank of King Hill, Idaho. Of nine grandchildren but three survive; she leaves great grandchildren. In I860 Mr. and Mrs. Laird located on a farm one mile north of Otterbein, and following his death 35 years ago, she moved to Otterbein, remaining until her death. Mrs. Laird was the sole surviving member of the original Beeker Chapel, established a short distance north of Otterbein about the year 1860.

Laird and Delilah Albin, on 3 Dec 1855 in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe, IN.1 2 (George William Laird was born on 30 Jun 1833 in , Guernsey, OH,14 died on 24 Sep 1874 in Otterbein, Tippecanoe, IN 14 and was buried in Montmorenci, Tippecanoe, IN 14.)
