Six days after her husband died. Lillie M., nee Knerr, Steckel, passed away last night at her home, 817 Gordon St., after an illness that extended over a period of four years. She was 73 years of age. Her husband, Frantz S. Steckel, was buried Friday.
Mrs. Steckel was born in Lowhill township, the daughter of the late Willoughby and Martha N., Schlicher, Knerr. She and her husband, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 13, 1937, operated a farm at Center Valley. She had been residing in Allentwon for four and a half years, and was a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by the following children, Edwin M., of Wescosville R. 1; William G. of Center Valley; Belva, wife of Asher Abel of Allentown; Jennie B., at home; Mabel, wife of Harry Parks, of this city and Private Robert F., of Fort Bragg, N.C.; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Knerr of Lanark; John Knerr of Catasauqua; five sisters. Mrs. Sallie Kocher of Allentown; Minnie Kocher of Fogelsville; Mrs Eva Johnson of Allentown; Mrs. Grace Wilt of Cetronia, and Mrs. Mary Moyer. of Allentown.
One son and three grandchildren are now serving in the armed forces, three of which are stationed overseas.
Funeral services will be held from the Trexler Funeral home, 116 S. 8th St., on Saturday at 1:30 p. m. Burial will be made in the Cedarville Union cemetery.
