18. Obituary: The Evening Sentinel: obituary of Paul E. Beecher Sr. On 8 Sep 1977 in Carlisle, Cumberland, PA. Paul E. Beecher Sr., 68, RD3 Fayetteville, died unexpectedly in his sleep Tuesday in his home. Born June 26, 1909, in Oakville, he was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Minnequa Club and Oscar M. Hykes Post No. 223, American Legion of Shippensburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Beecher had been employed as a heavy equipment operator by Wright's Construction Co. of Washington, D.C., retiring in 1973. Surviving are his widow, Nancy Bodkin Beecher; a daughter and four sons; Mrs. Calvin (Winifred) Beam, Newville; Glenn E. Beecher and James L. Beecher, both of Fayetteville; Michael E. Beecher, Claremont, N.H.; Paul E. Beecher Jr., Fannettsburg; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister; Samuel Beecher, Walnut Bottom; Herman, Camp Hill, and Mrs. Viola Russell, Honeybrook, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral was held today in the John O. Park Funeral Home, with the Rev. William II. Ensminger officiating. Burial was in Chambersburg.
