Newspaper: York Daily: Lamp Exploded, 16 Jun 1910, York, York, PA. 16 An exploding kerosene oil lamp at the residence of Calvin Beecher, 875 Propspect street, ignited the bed clothing and furnishings in a second-story bed room, where and infant child was sleeping, about 9 o'clock last Saturday night. The noice of the explosion attracted the attention of Mr. and Mrs. Beecher, who saved the child from suffocation, and with the assistance of neighbors extinguished the flams. The damage was slight.

But Parents Hear Lamp Burst and Rush to Rescue

York, June 17. --- The noise of a keresene lamp exploding in a bedroom in which their infant child was sleeping last night attracted the attention of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Beecher, of this city.
The room was in flames when they entered, but the fire had not reached the cradle, in which the child was still sleeping peacefully. Neighbors assisted in extinguishing the fire.

23. Obituary: Erie Daily Times: obituary of Calvin Beecher Sr. On 20 Jun 1970 in Erie, Erie, PA. 6 Calvin M. Beecher Sr., 83, of 1977 Prospect Ave., died Friday afternoon at his residence.
He was employed at the Westside Feed and Fuel Co. for 13 years before his retirement. He was also formerly employed with the Erie Window Glass Co.
Survivors include his wife, Jane H. Brown Beecher; two sons, Rev. David R. Beecher of Augusta, Ga., and Calvin M. Beecher Jr. of Erie; one sister, Mrs. John (Lillie) Paules of York, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the C.J. Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Rd., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services there Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Kneller, pastor of St. Pauls United Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will be in North East Cemetery.


Calvin married Jane Hannah Brown, daughter of Joseph R. Brown and Annie E. Turner, on 16 Jun 1908 in , York, PA.1 (Jane Hannah Brown was born on 31 May 1888 in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery, PA,28 29 died on 25 Feb 1978 in Augusta, Richmond, GA 28 29 30 and was buried in North East: North East Cemetery, Erie, PA 29.)
